Congratulations to the graduates of OC San’s Spring 2025 Wastewater 101 Citizen’s Academy!

Over the past month, this dedicated group of students completed a four-part virtual academy designed to give a behind-the-scenes look at how OC San keeps our communities clean and safe. From the science of wastewater treatment to the operations that power our plants, participants explored the full scope of what it takes to serve 2.6 million people every day.

At the end of the Academy, a record-breaking 43 graduates were honored with a special ceremony at the April Board of Directors Meeting. This cohort is the largest since the program’s inception in 2022. To celebrate their achievement, the group had the opportunity to tour Plant No. 1, where they saw real-world examples of the systems and processes they studied in action. The tour brought their knowledge to life and gave them a deeper appreciation of the work that happens at OC San.
